BELIEVER’S KIT: #5- THE GREATEST EXPECTATION
BELIEVER’S KIT: #5- THE GREATEST EXPECTATION
Do you know that a Christian should daily expect the return of the Lord? The hope of our faith is the return of the Lord and it is such a beautiful hope. We must rise every morning with this hope renewed and afresh within us. The core of our faith is the coming back of Jesus Christ. To be with the Lord in the Kingdom He has gone to prepare for us as He promised is our greatest hope and expectation. Unfortunately, messages and reminders of the coming back of the Lord are no longer popular. We don’t hear them much anymore. Instead our affections are mostly set on things of the earth and how God will help us make it here on earth, without making to Heaven.
The saints of old were daily waiting and expecting the coming back of Jesus Christ, though they slept before it. The Lord also expects us to daily wait for and expect Him at any time, however long it takes. Our part is to be ready at all times, so that whenever He comes, we will be worthy to meet Him in the sky. That is the greatest expectation of the Christian.
Decide as you rise each morning, to be counted worthy to go with the Lord in case He comes that day. Live each day expecting the King. Daily be ready for His coming. Each day should be spent with the hope of glory- the coming of the Lord. If in the course of our daily routine the Lord appears, we shouldn’t be left behind with those who rejected Him.
Whatever earthly expectations you may have, whatever you may be praying for and seeking from the Lord, the greatest of all expectations is the return of Jesus Christ. Expect Him every day that you breathe. Be prepared at all times because He could come at any time when you do not know it.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:2-3
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18
The Lord is at hand. Philippians 4:5
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23
