Don’t Take it Lightly
The son of God left His throne and came to the earth. One reason brought Him to the earth- the salvation of mankind. If there was any other way to save us, Jesus wouldn’t have come. If we could take care of our redemption, Jesus wouldn’t have died for us. If it wasn’t needful, He wouldn’t have left Heaven for the earth. After the fall of man, the only solution to the restoration of man was Jesus Christ and is still Jesus Christ.
One thing was clear. It wasn’t easy for Him. It wasn’t a jolly trip to the cross. That is why He prayed to the Father at Gethsemane to take the cup from Him. It wasn’t easy. But He did it anyway. He served a sentence for a crime He didn’t commit. He paid the price for sin that wasn’t His. It wasn’t binding on Him to die. Yet, He did it because of love. He did it because we couldn’t do it. He did it because there was no other way. If He didn’t die in our stead, we would have been lost forever. He was the only worthy one to die for man.
A drop of His blood was strong enough to wipe the whole sin of the world. A drop of His blood paid for past sins, present sins and sins of the future. The blood of animals couldn’t wipe away the sins of man, even as they were repeatedly sacrificed. The animals couldn’t do it. But Jesus died just once and it was finished. He sacrificed Himself just once and the whole penalty was paid. He didn’t need to die again; perfect sacrifice it was. It was one Saviour, one cross and one sacrifice and the redemption plan was sealed.
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Hebrews 9:12
Don’t take it lightly. Don’t take lightly what the Son of God did for you. Don’t take lightly the price He paid at Calvary. It was a painful, bloody journey, so don’t take it lightly. Accept Jesus and what He did for you. He paid for your sins. He died on your behalf, so you would no longer die. Don’t take it lightly. Don’t trample on this perfect work of love and grace. The penalty for doing so is more than you can handle.
He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:28-31
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36
When you accept Jesus you are made to walk in newness of life. You become a new man because you have been recreated by the Lord. His grace places you in the part of righteousness and keeps you walking in the same path. You begin to live according to God’s Word and His righteousness. You begin to live the life you weren’t able to live on your own. The grace that flows from Calvary makes that possible in you. By the same grace that flows because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you are made ready for eternity. You become rest assured that you are set free from the judgment to come.
Don’t take lightly what Jesus did for you. Don’t trample upon it because your life depends on it. That’s the reason He died.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18
