Word of The Week: Give Thanks- Hebrews 13:15
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Hebrew 13:15
Meditation/Action
If you pick a pen and write down all the things you need to be thankful for, you will discover that the list is longer than you imagined. We have so much to be thankful for. But unfortunately, we focus more on what we don’t have than on what we have. There’s so much of God’s blessings and goodness around us. Instead of murmuring, complaining and comparing ourselves with others, we should give God praise and thanksgiving because He is good to us.
Psalm 100:4 says we should enter His gate with thanksgiving in our hearts and His court with praise. Praise and thanksgiving usher us into the presence of the Lord and place us in a better position to receive the rest of the things we desire from Him. When we praise God and maintain a grateful heart, He knows to take care of the rest of our needs.
We should never allow ingratitude creep in and becloud our vision, stopping us from appreciating the Lord’s goodness unto us. Gratitude should be our attitude. Let’s learn to be thankful. The Lord knows the rest of our needs and will surely take care of them. But first let’s be thankful for the things He has done, starting from the life in us which those that have gone do not have.
Let’s thank God for all His blessings and provisions in our lives, and most importantly for being our God. He is a kind and a loving Father. He is Jehovah Jireh. He knows our needs, even before we ask. Next time the enemy reminds you of the things he claims you don’t have, show him the inexhaustible long list of what God has done. And with His record of blessing His children, every other need will be met in a much bigger way than we dream.
